There has been a steady progress of Tuluspeaking community in many aspects. The comparison is between the people who had migrated from the villages to the city and those who are still staying in the villages. The areas include: 1. Education 2. Standard of Living 3. Building of Institutions and many more. Do you share the view or have different opinions on how the community can progress further? Does the community members want to be working class - generations after generation tend to go in for safe jobs namely banking, insurance etc or there are enterprenuers in community... Share your ideas...

Question 1 : Tuluspeakers - have they progressed...????
Answers is : YES .
Question 2 : But have we marketed ourselves well as a community .....?????
Answer is :big NO
In the field of education inspite of our forefathers belonging to a community where people did not educate , In todays generation people from our community are doing quite well and going for futher studies even abroad. And the most important we do it on our merit.
But as a community , I feel we are very shy group of people. We do a lot of things in isolations .And as a community our strength has never come out or being expressed.
I feel that 45 members in this group can make a huge difference. As i go through the profile i see that people belong to various education background and each doing quite well in their profession are a part of this forum.
Yes what i expect them not to work or do good in isolation but share their knowledge and experience with the group of tuluspeakers.
Yes few people in this group , do express their opinion and share their learnings.
Santosh great job in ur site sanpassion where u are exploring the possibility of being a good photographer from being a IT profession in ur actual profession.
Meenal shared about her profession as an interior decorator, her work and i like the way she expresses her opinion on this forum.
And Arun who dared to propose a business venture in this forum.
Then we have supreet, csshriyan, satish and few others who share their views , opinion or contribute in this forum, keep up the good work.
Request others in this forum to come forward and share about yourself , I feel that we have great bunch of people in our community who have made a mark locally as well as globally. Doing well in academics and also in their profession whatever each one chose.
"Market yourself through this forum of tuluspeaker. and let your ideas , opinions be expressed."
Well what do i do as a profession ???? I am a Microbiologist.
As a profession I get my bread and butter for exploring an invisible world of microbes . It is quite fasinating and challening profession.
Write to me if you want to know about this profession , with whatever little knowledge i have i will try to answer your queries.
It is nice to be a part of this forum.
Regards Harsha

Here, I am referring to Tuluspeaking community and not the tuluspeaking forum. One my friends told me an interesting story, why people from Madras, Mumbai & Kolkatta are working class whereas people from other community are into business. During British days, the center of administrative capital was in Madras, Mumbai and Calcutta. (Madras Presidency, Mumbai Presidency and Bengal Presidency). They needed people to work in Govt. offices. So education was designed for that purposes and people from these regions were trained to do govt. jobs. Two hundred years the generations from these regions were trained to go for jobs. The enjoyed doing the same since they realized it is secured, easy money and no tensions. The same analogy can be applied to Tuluspeaking communities. Our forefathers have migrated from Dakshin kannada region to Mumbai. They started as low positions in banks and insurance companies and some of them progressed to higher levels. Being first and second generation people, they had come to new places to earn and have better standard of living. They realized the need for education and made their children educated. Source of income had to be secured and they expected children to do the same. The children of Tuluspeaking community were encouraged to take up jobs. After graduation... find a good Company to work. The community has become educated but it is far from being enterprising. The community will have doctors, engineers, chartered accountants but majority of them still are working class. There are only few who are having their own business. Cheers & Hats off to them. One Tuluspeaking community started with Restaurant and Hotel business. Well they have progressed a lot and generated employment for many. Whether they are educated or not, I am not sure about it. One community in India that has progressed and are enterprising is community from Marwar... Marwaris. Their education and economic standard was same as ours when they started off but they were enterprising... set up business... network themselves well... helped each other and grown. They migrated 80 years back because of severe famine. One reason why Marwaris are far ahead is may be due to Rajasthan was under princely state and Karnataka was under Madras Presidency... For us the legacy stayed on.. These are my view, if your views are different than mine...please discuss how to grow....
