For women folks only relief travelling in the local train is that there is a ladies compartmet. So atleast we can dare to travel in the local trains.
Otherwise it is beyond our imagination to travel in peak hours at any other compartment.
But Mumbai local train is much better mode of trasport than the BEST bus.

The trains are crowded beyong imagination. But I will tell you an interesting ride I used to have when it was empty and it was scary.
I had to travel from Dadar to Dombivili early morning to visit to client site early morning at around 9.00 am. The trains were empty. The train was travelling at its top speed. This made the ride bumpy.
Imagine the train compartment which is full of more than 1500 passengers empty. Its suspension would have been compressed to its limits at any given point of time. Now, it jumps like anything. That was really scary. Everyone will get a feeling that the train will derail.
Funny, isn't it, to go in an empty train. Hazardous both ways.....

Do you know the difference between travelling in train in Mumbai and travelling by bus in Delhi?
In Mumbai, when you enter with your ironed clothes inside the train and come out, your dressed gets crumpled.
Whereas in Delhi, if you enter in crumpled clothes inside the bus and come out, your dressed gets ironed.
Funny isn't it....
